Welcome to Journey with Dr. Jill!
Maybe youʼve been referred for counseling by your family doctor. Or a close friend or your significant other has suggested you need to “talk to someone.” Maybe youʼve sought counseling in the past for sadness, panic attacks, depression, a broken or an abusive relationship and now another problem in your life is bothering you and just wonʼt go away.
You donʼt have to be “weak” or “crazy” to use the services of a psychologist; in fact, the healthiest people are usually the ones who seek help. They want a better, happier life but donʼt quite know how to make it happen on their own. They may lack the skills or tools to “get past” or heal from old hurts of feelings of anger or grief or sadness on their own.
Why choose Jill Strasser as your therapist?
Some people think of psychotherapy as a picture of a patient lying on a couch while the therapist silently takes notes, saying “Um, hm; tell me more about that” every once in a while. They usually have the idea that therapy can go on year after year. In my experience, most people donʼt have the interest, time or money for this kind of treatment; in fact, there is no evidence that type of treatment is even very effective.
What works for most individuals is a time-limited, practical approach. That means identifying problems or stressors and developing simple, effective strategies for dealing with them. My goal is to return you to your “best” self as quickly as possible, so you can get on with living a happy, productive life.
